Lauryn Hill Berkeley Concert reviews
Van Morrison angry artist
"Lauryn Hill played in D.C. on Friday and Thursday night. We attended Thursday night. According to reviews we heard and read, her concert on Friday night was good but she did not say hello or thank you to the audience, turned her back on the crowd, and only played one popular hit, Brown Eyed Girl. On Friday night, a similar situation occurred with less yelling at the band during the set, still an angry artist. Her voice and music are great. The band is really good but they look scared to death of her having an outburst. She left the stage around 9:45p (concert started late at about 8:15p versus 8:00) after reading a poem to music and never returned. No encore. Not even one popular tune (no Brown Eyed Girl or Have I Told You Lately this night). It was enjoyable but we would have forgiven her diva-like behavior and attitude if she had just come back for one encore and given something back to the fans and packed house who had paid upwards of $350 to see her that evening. Mixed reviews...Probably would NOT go back again if she ever tours. The music and venue had lots of potential for being great up until the end. But it missed the mark totally!"
